A remarkable natural site, a real migratory crossroads which promises surprising encounters.
The Lilleau des Niges Nature Reserve, in the northwest of the Île de Ré, inside a large, almost closed bay, is made up of a mosaic of environments which give it great originality and remarkable ornithological diversity ( more than 300 species observed).
The reserve serves as a stopover and nesting and wintering site for many migratory birds such as geese and ducks in winter, and bluethroats and common terns in spring.
Don’t miss this fabulous environment: a cycle path, lined with tamarisk and maritime purslane, runs along the reserve to the south for bird watching.
